EMULSIFIABLE CONCENTRATES (EC)
E.C. formulations form a spontaneous emulsion when diluted with water, with emulsion droplets in the size range of 0.1 to 1.0μm. A spontaneous emulsion is achieved by selecting surfactants based on their ability to emulsify the solvent system, including the active ingredient, into water. The emulsion gives a uniform application of active ingredients when sprayed on the crop, essential for effective pest control. E.C.s have relatively high biological activity and chemical stability.
